We're proud to announce that Joplin's Java will be opening up earlier and staying open later! Monday through Friday, we'll now be open at 6:00 am (instead of 7:30) and we'll be open until 9:30 pm (instead of 6 pm). Our weekends will remain the same: Saturdays 7:30am to 6 pm and closed Sundays.

Ask and ye shall receive! Customers like you have been asking us to open up earlier in the morning, so you can get coffee on the way to work. Some of you want to get work done or meet friends after dinner. So with all of the growth we've experienced over the last year, we're finally in a position to grow in this pretty neat way!

We just celebrated our 5th Anniversary! Family Piano Co. (of which Joplin's is a part) started back in November 2006 -- it seems like just yesterday! We're proud of where we've been and where we're going. Thanks for your continued patronage!

Hey everyone!

We're now carrying bagels from Bagel Bin, a local bakery. Man, these bagels are delicious! So to celebrate, we'll be giving away bagel samples this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (Oct 26, 27, & 28). Come on in and try some!

Adrienne Stearns is Joplin's Java new coffee bar manager! Not only is she a blast to work with, but she comes to the job with 11 years experience managing a family-run cafe & bakery in North Carolina! If you haven't yet met her, make sure to stop by and say "hi!"

Brendan Alviani is definitely sticking around. He's currently focusing on marketing Family Piano Co. & Joplin's Java to help get the word out. He won't be working much behind the bar, but is excited about the new creative opportunities.

We just finished installing our new (to us) espresso machine! After driving down to Lafayette Indiana to pick it up, running down to Chicago several times to get it fixed, and spending 2+ days hunting down obscure parts so we could hook it up, it is here -- and it is glorious! It's a little hard to tell from the picture, but it shoots about 3 feet of steam; the steam wand is about 3x stronger than our previous machine. Rather than take about 15 seconds to steam milk for lattes and cappuccinos, it now takes about 5. Crazy! And it pulls pretty good shots, too. Hurray!

After a ton of time and energy, we finally have our new website up! I'm pretty excited by what we've got — much more intuitive navigation, more concise text, lots more pretty picture, and more. Yet we didn't want to let the perfect be the enemy of the good; we didn't want to spend another several months tweaking and adding bells and whistles while a perfectly good core of a website sat unseen. So here is Version 1.0. We'll be adding to this site to improve the user experience and make it richer for everyone.
